Well this past week involved a flare up. What is a flare up? A flare up is a periodic time frame in which some of the breast implant illness related symptoms you have that subside return and remind you what life was like before you explanted. It's temporary. The flare ups end. It's part of the healing process and should be expected for months and years to come, the good thing is that they become less frequent and less severe as your body heals. I personally have found them to be way less severe then the best days I had before I explanted, so I don't sweat it. They are just part of the journey back to health and my body doing what it has to in order to repair. My flare ups seems to consistently occur when I do too much (so if I do get tired I need to actually take it easy and rest), I deviate from my clean diet, or I expose myself to a trigger (sugar, processed foods, alcohol, or products that I am sensitive too).

 

So the flare up days I had a few mild bouts of nausea, but they didn't last all day like before, it was probably a couple times it appeared, lasted about 10 minutes and left. I had some facial inflammation. Some minor joint pain in my knees. I had a mild headache on and off for two days. My sinus stuff came back (more mild though) with that phlegm feeling in my throat, post nasal drip, runny nose, watery itchy eyes, and sneezing. The flare up lasted 3 full days and by day 4 was on it's way out. I'm still moving forward and feeling great. The flare ups don't upset me because 1) they are a reminder of how far I've come in such a short time. 2) I am realistic with my expectations and know that these will come and go for years to come because of the damage from the heavy metals and chemicals in my implants 3) They are nothing compared to how hard it was before I explanted

 

When I flare up I rest and take it easy. I try to focus on helping my body do it's job by not using the resources it has to keep going at my normal pace when it occurs. It's been an adjustment because I'm used to pushing through those set backs and just keep going harder, but I've learned that my body needs me to rest because it has been through a lot and has a huge long term job healing what was done.
